Nissan builds a farm on caterpillars

10 May 2017 - Niels van der Boom

Anyone who sometimes has trouble getting to hard-to-reach areas of his company with his car can turn to Nissan for the solution. As a stunt, it put an X-Trail 4x4 on tracks and underwent a major pimp. The ultimate farm house?

In March wrote we still talk about a Land Rover, which has built a special Discovery 4x4 for the Red Cross. An ideal car for farmers, because you can launch drones from behind the wheel and land them on the roof. The Discovery is undoubtedly an all-terrain vehicle, but Nissan takes it one step further. Their creation is called 'Rogue Trail Warrior'. It was built as a crowd puller at the New York Auto Show.

Technically the car is unchanged

The 4 caterpillars are striking
The most striking thing about the Rogue crossover are the 4 tracks it is on. Nissan bought it from American Track Truck. Technically, the car has remained unchanged, a spokesman said. Only the wheel arches and suspension have been adjusted. However, the design department has started working on the design. He got a camouflage wrap, yellow 'military' headlights, hefty LED lamps and a winch that can pull 1.800 kilos.

It is not the intention that Nissan will actually sell the car. However, spokesperson Dan Passe has good news for those who really need it. All parts are for sale separately. A bit of creative can therefore convert his X-Trail himself, or any other truck. Incidentally, a Juke was already installed on caterpillars by Nissan in 2015 put.

Snow and loose sand
A set of tracks will cost you more than 8.000 euros, excluding shipping costs. According to the car manufacturer, they are especially useful for driving in snow and loose sand. The track builder also sells most sets for this. The tracks are made of rubber, but the combs are made of iron. It won't be very comfortable on the road.

Nissan put the X-Trail on four tracks from the American company Track Truck. Such a set will cost you about 8.000 euros.

The tracks do not look very sturdy and on the road it is probably not very comfortable. They are mainly intended for snow and sand.

The car got a wrap, special headlights, LED spotlights and a large winch.
