As of January 1, Abemec from Veghel, the importer of brands such as Fendt and Massey Ferguson, will take over the Van Arendonk Mechanisatie companies in Flevoland and Gelderland. The companies announced this on Friday 23 November.
The takeover is remarkable because Van Arendonk currently falls under the umbrella of the Mechan Group in Achterveld. This company is also an Agco importer (Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra). Even after the takeover, Van Arendonk continues to sell Valtra and not Massey Ferguson.
3 branches
Van Arendonk Mechanisatie has 3 branches (in Zeewolde, Dronten and Ermelo). From 2019 onwards, these will be known as Abemec Zeewolde, Dronten and Ermelo and the number of branches will increase to 23. Subsidiary company Naaktnauw from Tollebeek is not involved in the takeover.
It is not the first time that Abemec has taken over a company above the rivers; it has had a branch in Onderdendam since 2008. Since July 2016, Abemec has been fully owned by the German company Baywa, which is itself one of the largest Fendt dealers in Germany. In 2017, the company achieved a turnover of €89 million and employed approximately 225 employees, spread over 20 branches.
Extensive machine package
The brands of Abemec and Van Arendonk largely overlap in terms of Fendt, Lemken, Agrifac and Krone. After the takeover, Van Arendonk's machine package will be expanded with more Abemec brands. The current machines remain, such as Raven, JCB, Beco and Dewulf.
The latter recently announced that it was appointing a new dealer for their harvesting machines in Flevoland: Bart Agro Mechanisatie from Biddinghuizen.
