The province of Groningen has started a project to help owners of asbestos roofs to replace the roof with solar panels. A budget of €100.000 will be made available for the project.
The project This is an incentive scheme in which the owners of the asbestos roofs work together with energy cooperatives. There is room to replace 20 asbestos roofs with collective solar panels. To participate in the project, a so-called 'roof check' is required.
roof check
This roof check is necessary because during a similar project in Friesland it appeared that the construction of many asbestos roofs was not strong enough. In addition, the distance to the road was (much) too great for some farmers.
Collective solar panels mean that the energy generated by the solar panels can be used by fellow villagers. The owners of the asbestos roofs therefore do not receive a direct subsidy per meter of roof from the province of Groningen.
