Farmer must be able to remediate asbestos roof himself

6 March 2019 - Niels van der Boom - 10 comments

New research into the risks of working with asbestos shows that there are fewer health risks than previously believed. LTO Nederland therefore advocates that farmers should be allowed to remediate their asbestos roofs themselves. According to LTO Nederland, this should bring significant cost savings.

From the research shows, among other things, that the risks of removing asbestos roofs are negligible. The protective measures are not necessary and, above all, are very expensive. TNO, Utrecht University, Radboud University Nijmegen and Crisislab call the current asbestos policy unrealistic.

This is the reason for LTO Nederland to argue for a relaxation of the rules. It estimates the total cost of asbestos remediation in the agricultural sector at €880 million, with everything to be remediated before 2025. Livestock stables and sheds in particular still have asbestos sheets on the roof.

Be guided by realism
The research shows that the removal of these plates hardly poses any health risks. That is why farmers should be given the space to do this job themselves, so says LTO Netherlands. "If the roof owner can remediate his own roof without health risks, then this should be allowed," says Alfred Jansen, portfolio holder Security and Leasehold at LTO Nederland. "We should not be guided by fear, but by realism."

This means that everyone will now wait to remediate the asbestos until these rules have been implemented.

Anyone who has already had remediation carried out by expensive specialized companies has therefore started too early?

??? !!! 6 March 2019
but luckily it is again the government that is unreliable, you can rely on that.

STAF: check whether LTO is doing business properly!

I'll be busy in the coming time, replace a roof myself!

Where can I hand in the invoice for the remediation?
French 6 March 2019
I had 3000 m2 remediated last year for 7 euros. With the subsidy of 4,5 euros off, it only cost 2,50 euros. Renovation costs next to nothing, the new roof, that makes it expensive.

Most people who have replaced asbestos have also received a subsidy, so they do not have to claim anything back. Maybe wait until you can leave the roof there are still enough asbestos water pipes in the ground and they will find out in 2025 that an asbestos roof is not so dangerous.

Well, boereke, that subsidy has been there for years and was there for you too. After receiving the subsidy, the remediation cost only a few euros more.

Asbestos on the roof and sheet piles off.
shoemakers1 7 March 2019
I was very forced by the municipality to remove it, I had to do more work to clear everything if I had been allowed to remove the plates myself, then also new worse sheet piles on the roof, a lot of stuff but thrown away because you can't knew what to do with it. Final conclusion, the entrepreneur is screwed again, can pay everything, is responsible for all risks, and the officials, who laugh at everyone, only worry about their pension, and just like the SS men it will always be paid , and then they say Africa is corrupt????????????????????????????????????????? ???????
