Countryside votes en masse at Forum for Democracy

21 March 2019 - Wouter Baan - 25 comments

'The day after' is always fraught and uncertain, but one thing is certain: Forum for Democracy (FvD) has made a hefty election gain in the elections for the Provincial Council. In addition, many rural municipalities have voted en masse for Thierry Baudet's party.

State in all provinces FvD in the top 3, which means that the party is popular all over the world. For example, the party is the largest in the provinces of South Holland and Flevoland and the party has finished second in Gelderland, Friesland, Groningen, Limburg, Brabant and North Holland. The profit of FvD is at the expense of the PVV and SP, and to a lesser extent also of the VVD and the CDA.

On the evening of the election results, Baudet told the NOS that he wants to stop the 'climate madness'. By this he means that building windmills and construction of wind turbines must be stopped solar fields† Baudet also wants to get rid of mass immigration and he wants to create more space for entrepreneurs. "We are going for a radical change of course."

Forum popular in the countryside
Farmers also fall for Baudet's ideas, although it is impossible to say what the vote of the agricultural Netherlands ultimately brought the party. Since FvD is large in many rural municipalities, it can be concluded that Baudet's sound is especially popular outside the Randstad.

In the municipality of Noordoostpolder in Flevoland, where most farmers live nationally (843 in 2016), FvD is in second place. The CDA has won in that municipality. For example, in the municipalities of Hardenberg (Overijssel), Westland (South Holland), Berkelland in Brabant, Ede (Gelderland) or Súdwest Fryslân, FvD is also high in the (provisional) results.

Coalition loses
GroenLinks has also gained popularity. This party won 5 seats in North Holland and is therefore the largest there. In the other provinces, Jesse Klaver's party finished outside the top 3. The governing parties (VVD, CDA and D66), on the other hand, lost many votes. Incidentally, this does not apply to the ChristenUnie, because the party of Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) gained about 100.000 more votes nationwide.

kop van jut should be in the media more often!
now there's action!
as soon as that plush sticker gives an opinion:
immediately do the opposite!

Class (fellow) farmers!

CALON RUN OUT and TAKE LTO, get out!
Ton Westgeest 21 March 2019
This is what happens when you want to do all kinds of craziness with the climate. Lying that CO2 influences global warming so much.
Arrogant candidates who lecture us, lie and cheat again and again. Open the door wide to all migrants and just give our tax money to Poland and other Eastern blockers.
CHAPEAU NETHERLANDS.

Good luck Thiery.... because it's only now beginning. It's going to be a heathen job! Whatever happens, we will try to support you against all the crazies!!!(Calon)

Fvd knows absolutely nothing about agriculture, kicking the current coalition, but you will not get anywhere with this. And Fvd does not want to cooperate either, so we now receive support in the government of the Green Left, well thanks Fvd voters, had thought a little further.
john 21 March 2019
If the government moves in the direction of GL, we will also get yellow vests in the Netherlands.. What has happened with the FVD and the signal that is being issued, the cabinet should not ignore the choices they are going to make. The fact remains that the leftist clique has shrunk further!
Peter Jansen 21 March 2019
Leftist cliques have shrunk, which is positive. But what do we get in return? A "crazy" who is anti-Europe and who considers referendum very important! He finds collaboration difficult! In provincial politics they are all people with little or no experience! We wait.

why is someone who speaks the truth a "crazy"

Let us first of all state that what is there now has achieved nothing but destruction for the agricultural sector. If we want to move forward in agricultural weather, we will first have to get rid of that climate madness; and we will also have to show a little more backbone towards Brussels. France, Germany, etc. do the same after all. There are people in the Forum Club who originally came from the farm, so they are not that far from there now. When there is a need to govern again later, that has to be done with other parties and then the sharp edges will be removed. In any case, I am very happy with the great victory of Forum for the time being!!!
bacon steak 22 March 2019
finally an alternative for many vvd and cda colleges in the province not to get involved with farmer-unfriendly parties !!!
bacon steak 22 March 2019
I also have the idea that many young people have now started voting, especially for FVD (explained the high turnout), because they find environmental policy too fast and unaffordable. especially if you have just bought a first house, if you are not careful you will be obliged to buy a heat pump, a tesla and also solar panels.....

mr. Just replacing Calon with our representative will not suffice, it's the same official atmosphere, and pumping projects around, but above all to stay in the legs that affect our organization.
This while many good people work there, and especially many good people in the country are committed to the cause.

What has happened to the state elections can also be linked to the lto organisation. the question that arises is: is anyone going to do something about it?

If I've read the messages here and there, I would be seriously concerned as the head director of such a club, and bottom up, top down make sure that the supporters feel heard.
Ton Westgeest 22 March 2019
How sick and unreliable the universities are on the left is once again apparent from the death threat against Baudet.

A green left university employee the extremist Corne Hanssen calls on Folkert van der Graaf.....

It can't get much crazier than that. We already knew that Wageningen and University of Twente had been discrediting us for years with manipulated and wrong figures, but this beats everything!!!!

In any case, Utrecht University can also be blacklisted as far as I'm concerned...

I think Thierry already mentioned something of this in his post-election speech. Perhaps a higher level of truth than the news of most journalists.

Let the members choose who will be the LTO director.

Researchers at universities like to publish research that attracts attention. Can they catch a few months for a few thousand euros per performance, give lectures and appear in TV programs.
Kees 22 March 2019
During my studies, Roos Vonk had published the study on scurrilous meat eaters. The college where I was studying at the time wanted to invite her for a lecture. But the rate was around 5000 euros per lecture. The university of applied sciences in question thought that was a bit too much and decided against it. I think Mrs. Vonk has earned well in that period......

hans 23 March 2019
John, the yellow vests are against the liberal EU-supported policy that the cabinets with great VVD influence are pursuing, not against social and economic ecological policy.
When will you see that this global liberal policy is only at the expense of both the citizen and the environment?
International companies that make mega profits, pay almost no tax on them, but absorb a lot of subsidies, and mainly exist by exploiting people and the environment.
When in the west will one person be able to support a family again, and live well without a mega-loan? Speaking of prosperity...
sustainable member 23 March 2019
chill,
there have been elections for the provincial councils,
you should not pollute this by lto board elections.
??? !!! 23 March 2019
both Kjol and Sustainable Member are erring
Sustainable: LTO calls for obedience to PvdA; arrogance and madness all rolled into one.
Kjol: LTO does not need a board election, but a dissolution meeting.
Voting advice from LTO for the abolition of the agricultural sector should be a reason for every remaining member to resign. Could those few peasants be lying under rock? Do they really think the weekly advertising-soaked indoctrination mail is worth about $30-50 a week?
Joost 24 March 2019
Hahaha, there are so many idiots in this country.
On the one hand Calon with his LTO who want to throw the DDT again with the shovel over the land and let the shit run back into the stream.
On the other hand, Baudet who now and then recites a poem and thus gets 1 in 7 Dutch people behind him and probably even 1 in 5 farmers.
You also have the supermarkets that set their own rules that are half heavier than the law.
Then you have the old politics that do everything and everything to keep their overpaid jobs.
And the consumer or citizen who is involved in all this violence, internationally speaking, uses far too high wages to buy everything that is packaged in plastic and is actually cheap. But do agree with the supermarket that everything must be organic and sustainable.
I'm going to mow the lawn and enjoy the nice weather.
Have a nice Sunday.

OVERPRODUCTION MAKES THE PRIMARY SECTOR HUNGRY ITSELF

If it goes well in agriculture you will not hear anyone, now LTO, Groenlinks, Pvda, Pvdd, have done it

Wouldn't it be better if we don't even look in the mirror?

We produce about 8 times the amount of potatoes, onions, milk than we need ourselves....
Maybe all do 20% less and earn a thick sandwich.
We export the milk (powder) and are left with the shit ourselves.
Previously 15 cubic meters of manure was spread above ground, now there are people who inject 45 cubic meters.
In a normal year, we hand in our potatoes and onions in the hope that the tare report will not be too bad.

Now we are collectively pumping money around and worrying about a politician who says EXACTLY what the people think.

BUT it's just like Fortune's LPF and Wilders' PVV.
acting populist have no policy and no sense how to run a country.
You can't run a country like a business, just look how Trump thinks it should be. Nothing, absolutely nothing, has been achieved by this best man.
jobs jobs jobs... the economy was already heating up when he came to power.

Populism right or left has never helped an economy. never
wow 24 March 2019
It's a pity that agriculture reacts like a herd animal to politics.. Yeah, make a fist against the left.. People people anyway.. Go Google and see who we find.. Paul cliteur... This man is behind fvd.. But is also the man for animal rights.. Founder pigs in need founder party for the animals.. Farmers .. Congratulations on your vote...!!!!
uk holder 24 March 2019
True @akkerboer, the suppliers and customers benefit from overproduction. Their revenue model is based on that. But producing less will not happen anytime soon. Suppliers and buyers are already in control of most farms. Because they keep the entrepreneurs going with financing. Although the entrepreneurs concerned often do not realize whether it is too late that use is made of loss financing or even bottomless put financing (= tax term). They are caught between debt restructuring and the straw man construction. Most choose the latter option.
arable farmer 24 March 2019
Awe later DCA will have done it because the farmers forgot to tell who Paul Cliteur is.....

It's unbelievable how far our sector has gone. straw construction.
You just don't understand that there are many, many people who let it get this far with BP financing.
I have family who work at 1 of the big accounting firms that work in the agricultural sector, they told me it is unbelievable what has happened in the past decades in terms of financing.

The banks need certainty and use a lot of farmland on their balance sheets to get a positive rating when it comes to funding ratio, just to be clear the bank's funding ratio!!

You can clearly read that your knowledge of foreign countries is on the back burner, get on a plane and take a real interest in the world before you shout something.
The economic growth after the war was thanks to politicians who kept their feet on the ground and a lot of hard work was done. However, the traditional plush sitters, especially those of the last decades, have only printed money and created debt, it can no longer be done that way, it has to be done differently to avoid a catastrophe.
