Stable owners from the province of Noord-Brabant can still claim the VABImpuls scheme until the end of 2019. The Provincial Executive recently decided to extend this arrangement. It also makes an additional €500.000 available.
The voucher scheme 'VABIimpulse' is intended for stable owners in North Brabant who are orienting themselves towards a different future. The arrangement was due to expire on Monday 1 April, but the Provincial Executive has decided to extend it until the end of 2019. So far, 275 stable owners and livestock farmers in North Brabant have used the scheme.
The choice to extend the scheme was mainly taken to properly complete current processes and to be able to process new applications. This also offers the new provincial government enough time to consider the continuation of the scheme. In addition, the Board has made an additional amount of €500.000 available.
Empty and vacant stables
Through the scheme, barn owners of empty or vacant barns can apply for an advice voucher, which they can use to call in an expert. The location is then jointly examined and the future prospects of this location are considered. The province reports in a press release that all options can be reviewed; from demolition to sale and from transfer to repurposing.
The province started this scheme in 2017, mainly on the basis of the 'Brabantse Aanpak Vacancy'. In that initial period, the scheme was only for owners of empty stables, later a scheme was added for farmers who were considering stopping or switching.
