May resigns over Brexit

24 May 2019 - Kimberly Bakker - 2 comments

British Prime Minister Theresa May announced in a press conference on Friday 24 May that she will step down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Friday 7 June. She has made this decision because it has become clear to her that the concessions made in the Brexit deal are not acceptable to her own cabinet and party members.

The British Prime Minister wanted to present a fourth version of her Brexit deal to parliament at the beginning of June. In order to get a majority now, the prime minister made a number of concessions. However, the concession to pave the way for a second referendum did not go down well with her Conservative party members.

"I believe it was good to persevere, even when the chance of success was small. However, I believe at the moment that it is in the national interest for a new prime minister to take over that task from me," May said at the press conference. know. The United Kingdom's departure from the European Union has now been postponed to October 31.

Confidence Vote
May's party members already tried to oust her in December through a vote of no confidence. She barely survived this: 200 votes against and 117 votes in favour. The Conservative Party is now looking for a new party leader and prime minister.

Heroine??

He took office not to let Brexit go ahead, or to proceed in a very controlled manner. After all, she is an opponent of Brexit.

Now she is with a Labor party that does not think its agreements with the EU go far enough, wants to maintain ties even more,
and part of her own Tories party that sees the agreements going directly against a real Brexit.

Saving the coal and the goat is what this is called in real English.
So no real choice, resulting in widespread dissatisfaction and procrastination, so why respect for this deception?
