Senate puts a stop to asbestos ban

June 4, 2019 - Niels van der Boom - 13 comments

Extending the ban on asbestos roofs has not been able to convince the Senate that the law is now feasible. A majority therefore voted against the bill of State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven (Infrastructure and Water Management) on Tuesday 4 June.

On Tuesday morning, June 4, a letter to parliament was sent to reported that the planned sunset date of January 1, 2025 would be shifted to January 2028. In addition, the State Secretary offered an option to extend this for municipalities until 2030.

too rushed
However, the Senate has passed the bill rejected† Many members of the Senate believe that the current ban is being rushed, mainly because roof owners are incurring high costs.

The parties VVD, CDA, PVV, Labor Party and SGP voted against the bill. Many of the senators think it is unaffordable for entrepreneurs to have their roofing replaced before 2025. The ChristenUnie, GroenLinks, Party for the Animals, 50Plus, OSF, SP and D66 did vote in favour.

why people are already going to invest in something that was not yet law and only made sense if you had other reasons to invest in asbestos-free
Same with air scrubbers that afterwards also did not bring the return that was indicated in advance via the official standards that have been halved afterwards

Hahaha I laugh my ass off, hopefully from today the sober mind will prevail in The Hague. The drunken climate rules are off the table for a while, the organic green sect is a head smaller and just back to work with all of us.

Tonight I'm going to drink a beer with glyphosate residue on it.....

cheers

Here's the famous catch...

Even if the asbestos ban has now been lifted, we still have to deal with regulations regarding asbestos.
If the asbestos roof is only allowed to remain in place, under certain conditions or circumstances, remediation may well be a better option!
GJ June 4, 2019
where can I recover the remediation costs, is LTO already working on this?

Sometimes it's good not to lead the way in the polonaise. All those fiber cement boards that have been laid over the past 15 years have to be replaced sooner than the old-fashioned asbestos roof, because it is almost impossible to break. Had a roof with the fiber cement sheets of 12 years old, which had become a life-threatening rusk roof. My 45 year old asbestos roof is not yet half worn out. Good that the 1st room has put a stop to it

Again a result of emotional politics, a lot of shouting and shouting hell and damnation, but when push comes to shove it turns out to be hot air.

Dear GJ, you also pay back the asbestos removal subsidy, the income tax benefit, the VAT and any other benefits enjoyed.
I can hope that you have not only remediated the asbestos to comply with the rules GJ........

What about the regulations for the removal of an asbestos roof, is that hassle with those moon men a thing of the past, who knows the finer points of this.
