Alexander van der Lely is leaving as the CEO of Lely Group. The current CEO will become the chairman of a newly formed supervisory board of the family business. His successor has been found within the tech group in the person of André van Troost, who will become the new CEO as of January 1, 2020.
Van der Lely has been the CEO of Lely group for 15 years. Under his leadership, the company from Maassluis chose to fully focus on developing robots and data for the dairy farm. The production of haymaking machines was also divested. Lely has subsequently grown into a leading player on the global market. In 2018, the company had a turnover of €416 million.
Supervisor
With this step, Van der Lely is withdrawing from the day-to-day management of the company. As chairman of the newly formed supervisory board, which functions as a supervisory authority, he can certainly continue to exert influence on Lely's course and strategy. Lely Group motivates this step in a statement that it should ensure that Lely remains a healthy family business in the future.
With his successor, André van Troost, someone will be at the helm who is not a member of the family. Van Troost is currently the group's vice president of Customer Care and has been working for Lely since 2014. Before that, he was active at Procter & Gamble (a producer of, among other things, detergents) and food group Danone. The composition of the board of directors remains unchanged, Lely reports.
No new strategy
There will be no new strategy with the new CEO, the company emphasizes. Lely continues to focus on innovation, strengthening the distribution channel, improving customer focus and further building a winning organization.
