Agriculture commissioner passed with heels over ditch

Janusz Wojciechowski can still become agricultural commissioner. Earlier, the European Parliament was still dissatisfied with his performance during his hearing. In addition to Wojciechowski, Frans Timmermans, the candidate for the Climate Commission, is also important for the agricultural sector. 

At the hearing, a candidate must answer questions from the European Parliament. Based on this, it is decided whether the candidate can perform the intended position. Wojciechowski's first hearing did not go well. He spoke in English, but that turned out not to be his forte. The fact that he has been active as a Member of the European Parliament in agricultural committees for years was not reflected in his conversation.

This is one of the reasons the Pole had to take a re-examination. In the successful re-examination, Wojciechowski spoke about the necessities of a fairly distributed agricultural budget. "Small farmers should not drown in international competition", was his position. Wojciechowski also wants to see more European products on the shelves.

Chopping over the ditch
According to MEP Jan Huitema (VVD), Wojciechowski passed his re-examination with heels. Although he had done his homework better this time, all worries are not gone yet. "I will therefore keep a close eye on his work, so that he adheres to his mandate to work on a European agricultural policy that works for the farmer", said Jan Huitema.

Frans Timmermans, who will be interrogated on Tuesday evening, October 8, is reportedly the new European Commissioner for Climate. It was previously announced that Timmermans plans to use 40% of the budget for the agricultural sector for climate purposes.
