Bart Kemp takes a step back at Agractie, the farmers' movement that was created by his initiative last autumn. Now that the lambing season is approaching, the sheep farmer from Ede wants to spend more time on his business and family. He makes this known in a letter to the Agractie followers.
Kemp started the first large farmers' protest on 1 October in Malieveld in The Hague with a message on Whatsapp. In The Hague, he pleaded with agriculture minister Carola Schouten mainly for a revaluation of Dutch agriculture and horticulture in politics and society. When the farmers' protests focused more on the nitrogen dossier, Agractie passed the baton in the front line to Farmers Defense Force.
Public action in Amsterdam
The organisation, also a member of the Agricultural Collective, now focuses mainly on public-friendly and playful actions. For example, a short demonstration in Noordwijk led to airtime with Kemp and laying poultry farmer Anja Henken in the TV program of Harry Mens. Agractie is also organizing a public campaign in Amsterdam on 13 December.
Kemp says that he will always be available for consultation and that he will continue to support Agractie. According to him, Agractie Nederland is now a 'sturdy and stable organization with a clear vision for the long term and a team of more than 15 enthusiastic people.' It is still unknown who will succeed Kemp as the figurehead of Agractie. It is obvious that this will be Anja Henken, but that has not been confirmed.
