Agriculture Collective puts pressure on Schouten

4 December 2019 - Wouter Baan - 24 comments

The Agricultural Collective is getting impatient. This is because after 4 consultations with Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality), there is no solution to break the nitrogen impasse. The spokesperson for Schouten emphasizes that solutions are being worked hard.

"Schouten is not taking action to break the deadlock", the Agricultural Collective writes in a press statement. It is not possible to come to concrete agreements. Decisiveness is therefore required from Schouten. The Agricultural Collective also expects soon approval on the recently presented nitrogen plan.

'We are talking'
A spokesperson for Schouten thinks the statement of the Agricultural Collective is a bit premature. "We are working hard and are talking to each other. The Agricultural Collective knows what we are doing." According to the spokesman for the minister, the first concrete measures will already be taken this week (and perhaps Wednesday evening 4 December).

"A letter to parliament will be issued soon in which we will explain the provincial measures. An agreement was reached on this at the end of last week." These measures include internal and external netting. "We will also discuss the emergency law in the House of Representatives on 4 December." According to the spokesperson, it is a file that is ongoing and that the minister would prefer to resolve with the Agricultural Collective.

As long as the farmers on the Christian Democratic Party (CDA) vote alla or they vote for the Christian Union, the companies will be lost. Only voting for the PVV or the FvD means progress on farms. Otherwise you will lose everything.
stupid dicks 4 December 2019
We can spout nonsense ourselves, we don't need you there Ruud.
SGP is the only party that has supported the farmer, in the past, present and will continue to do so in the future.
Geertje 4 December 2019
That is clear yes CDA or SGP will not be in the future...
grunt 4 December 2019
As long as a certain Mr Graus at the PVV spews all kinds of nonsense about animals, this party cannot be trusted by farmers with livestock and if the FVD wants to leave the eu, I cannot yet foresee the consequences for exports. it is doom and gloom for all parties

Cool, Ruud.

Farmers send a bill to the government en masse. And there it is. you demand nitrogen reduction. It is a property right. So pay €150 per kg. you want to use this nitrogen for other sectors. Investments cost money. And borrowing money for this does not apply
Hans van Zwan 4 December 2019
It strikes me that "Brussels " largely remains out of reach in conversations and actions; also with regard to German, Irish and French farmers.
There is also more and more nonsense coming from there….
geert 4 December 2019
It won't work with Schouten, put the trigger again, don't vote CDA or VVD again, Baudet or Wilders, I'll vote for that next time.
Geertruid 4 December 2019
Not words, but deeds... Empty cry of Right or Left: judge politicians on their actions, and then I have all respect for Brabant Member of Parliament Hermen Vreugdenhil (ChristenUnie) who shows how hypocritical GroenLinks (Rik Grashoff) takes a position there towards the harmful emissions from the industry. Groenlinks goal: get rid of the farmers. Goal PVV/FvD: after us the deluge, they also do nothing about overconsumption and throw-away behaviour. Expose the (S)left parties and the civil society to parties will be more susceptible to the common sense. Left and Right has way too much stage.

It is striking that there is hardly any response from the farmers to the many false information and promises made by the LTO and other farmers' organisations, which knowingly and ignorantly despite the fact that they were well aware that there was no room for even more intensive livestock farming, which has nevertheless stimulated this.
I find it very strange that the farmers do not seem to want to know that they have simply been fooled by their own organizations and, for example, figures such as Bleker.

If he knowingly denies for thirty years that there is a problem and takes signs of half measures, there will come a time when the tide will turn. Why don't people want to see that?
dane 4 December 2019
And the FvD and PVV can keep promises to farmers, as has already been done by the CDA and the VVD, nevertheless they cannot ignore the decision of the Council of State. They have to abide by the rule of law. It is much easier to promise something than to be able to deliver it, especially if one refuses to delve deeply into the matter.
The result of such behaviour, the golden mountains of promises that have not been there already through many cabinets, together with the LTO and the other farmers' organization boards, is now coming out.
If farmers want to be fooled even further, they should probably know that themselves. Only then will it be the case that the measures will have to be taken at some point because it can no longer be done like this, it will only hit harder for those who simply systematically do not want to see or hear the truth.
dane 4 December 2019
They should not have stood in front of the provincial houses with the tractors, but in front of the offices of the LTO and other farmers' organizations and made them accountable for the abuses they have led farmers to.
Jos 4 December 2019
There is only one way for agriculture. BACK smaller, cleaner and working yourself again. Fewer large diesel-guzzling polluting tractors.
Playing farmer on a big tractor and behind the computer must be over. Think of nature, the environment and the future.
gerard 4 December 2019
good day

in construction, it is not possible quickly with the farmers, do not understand that we farmers accept shipping and other major polluters no one talks about

where is zlto???????

sit at the table to kill the farmers and get all lost income back through other institutions of zlto

scandalous
farmer Dieuwke 4 December 2019
Too much has gone wrong with the government, LTO and farmers in the past, we have to fix that for the next generation. That is our duty. No dictates and pleas from the Collective for subsidies and money. We farmers have to get to work and stop making threats. Hands off Carola and feel the PVV and FvD to the tooth; cheap blower jaws.
M Baker 4 December 2019
Carola Schouten is a farmer's daughter and is 100% behind the farmers. That's how it should be if you're a minister of agriculture. The trust is gone and will never come back. The agricultural collective knows their business listen and do what they suggest. Admit Carola you're wrong.

Oh.......... think I'll say nothing for once.............because that doesn't help either.
Jan 4 December 2019
PVV ev fvd have never meant anything to farmers.
They can and will never really mean anything to farmers.
The blame for the nitrogen crisis lies entirely with the CDA and VVD.
GroenLinks and the other parlor socialists of the PvdA are of course simply tolerated partners of Rutte.
The only party that knows what it is talking about (in my province) is Groningen interest!
Local is always popular in municipal elections, it is a pity that this phenomenon decreases in provincial elections.
Farmers and citizens should perhaps take a closer look at their own people.
The local parties in your own municipality, the cooperation of these in the provinces and nationally represented in the OSF.

Cool, Ruud.

Totally untrue Jochem. Do you have another carrot to stick. The truth is that the SGP is deepening and engaging in agriculture.
For such a small party people certainly stick their necks out.
Jb 5 December 2019
Farmer dieuweke Schouten has financially destroyed family businesses and if there is no objection from the sector, we will all be cut from our livestock, you too, if other parties call, they are still listening and who it is does not matter much, Schouten is for the Dutch agriculture and fisheries a worthless minister

Gert 5 December 2019
small country of the Netherlands, dot on this globe, what an imagination .... we can save this earth (according to our politics) no they will not succeed, in which bend or twist it moves. stewards are every person in his or her place, farmers are and remain the best and cheapest nature managers that exist, politics be good stewards also in your place do not be bag fillers like last week with the redundancy payment scheme, shameful do justice your nature stewards, and adopt the collective's proposals, wisdom and a sincere and sober mind.
Gerrit 5 December 2019
It's crazy that kids say milk comes out of the carton.
Our Dutch education has fallen so far.
You no longer learn at school: That the farmer takes care of our daily food. And the cow's milk comes. Without a farmer and transport, the entire economy will come to a standstill. And then this also solves the nitrogen problem. What stupid Dutch we are that we accept all this from that one single person with the idea. The Netherlands prefers to sell everything abroad. Then we have to import it expensive again and make unnecessary kilometers for transport. All this is totally neutral CO2 nitrogen free. For all those people, go back to school and learn what you haven't learned. Innovation is allowed and possible, but don't throw away your food, give it to the poor. Because food banks do not belong in this prosperous Netherlands. First provide a home for everyone and an elderly care where you can and may still live with your wife or husband.

Pierre 6 December 2019
That's right. Farmers don't have it easy. But it's not easy for me either. Nobody has it easy. But it is a fact that we have to solve the nitrogen problem. And unfortunately it is also true that agriculture makes a very large contribution to the nitrogen problem. it cannot be that our nature will go to hell. we are responsible for a healthy nature and its biodiversity. so stop grabbing and exploiting nature. have nothing against farmers.

I would say, hand in the car, no more foreign holidays, no more buying luxury items.

If you want more nature in NL, in 1950 NL did not have as many inhabitants as it does now, so more space per head.
Randstad is the most polluting of NL, it is not due to agriculture there. But of urbanization.

NL was largely created by land reclamation, so most of the nature has been artificially created. How can you speak of nature then?

Birds fly and breed in my fields much more than on natural grounds that perish from the thistles.
Bird nest protection in today's agriculture is only necessary for foxes and other predators. In the breeding season, the land is not worked here, so think that nature will be fine.

Also saves the population a lot of tax money, Staatsbosbeheer, etc. are major subsidy wells. Where the money disappears quickly and little is achieved.
You can no longer respond.
