LTO member does not want hard action, but results

13 December 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 14 comments

The vast majority of farmers and horticulturists who are members of LTO Nederland are not in favor of hard actions in the nitrogen discussion. Preference is given to public-friendly campaigns. The members consider a maximum result from negotiations more important than 'all or nothing'.

This emerges from a poll that LTO held among the members. According to the organization, these have been completed by almost 5.000 members. According to LTO, 30% of its supporters are in favor of hard actions, adding that the sympathy of society must be retained in this. 70% of the members are in favor of public-friendly actions. LTO reports that members believe that the actions should serve a specific purpose and should remain within legal frameworks.

In the nitrogen dossier, the members of LTO attach the greatest importance to preventing a generic decline in livestock, preserving latent space and recalibrating Natura2000 areas. These are also the spearheads of the Agricultural Collective, which consults with agriculture minister Carola Schouten and in which LTO participates.

Consultation Agriculture Collective
Other important points are a generic nitrogen threshold, not an area specific one. There should also be no licensing requirement for grazing and fertilising. LTO writes that it will take the vision of its members with them when it meets with Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Agriculture Minister Carola Schouten within the Agricultural Collective on Monday.

LTO itself declares that it has not planned any concrete actions. She leaves that dependent on the cabinet's ultimate nitrogen policy. Today (December 13) Agractie is organizing a public-friendly action in the center of Amsterdam, with a farmer-burger brunch. Then there are also 25 tractors on Dam Square. Farmers Defense Force announced a crackdown on Wednesday, December 18. Monday morning is for that summary proceedings, brought by the supermarkets united in the CBL. They want to prevent the farmers from blocking the distribution centers.

Yes. In favor of handing over free ammonia rights to other sectors outside of agriculture. Pig and chicken farmers are going to borrow extra money to be able to achieve a significant reduction. 85% fast transition. All interests people are already talking about lower emissions per animal. You just feel that with the meetings of people who talk behind the scenes with political parties. Agriculture wants to make a significant contribution. Free. Or are we going to ask for money for reduction. Nothing for nothing. First abolish lto
Hans 13 December 2019
You don't have to abolish LTO Ans, they are already working on that themselves.
hans 13 December 2019
No Hans, LTO will try until the last member, probably boyfriend RFC, to vomit her voice as "burping noise".

Lto has already been significantly reduced in members, that continues despite counting all family members as members. Distributing food alone does not influence decisions. Stronger actions will still be needed. The government must realize that, if we want to, we can shut down ALL of the Netherlands. The builders would also be able to do it if they start making it even more difficult for them.
Arable farmers are also finding it increasingly difficult to fertilize and spray. The import may still contain anything or beef cattle that have had all sorts of things. Here the food is so much safer. THEY SHOULD TELL THE CONSUMER THAT IN JOURNAL.
Not just half stories and being negative

In principle I could agree with LTO's position.
But hopefully the entire current LTO organization realizes that thanks to their years of "great" advocacy, we have come to where we are now.
They have completely let themselves be tricked by the Dutch government.
They just never seem to realize it themselves.
If no contribution had been levied but a system of: No qure no pay, the entire top of LTO would have earned nothing for a long time.
It's just a shame that it has to be this way, but unfortunately it is no different now.
It has annoyed me terribly for years.

LTO wants nothing but talk talk and admit again they have never done anything else ?????/

Full confidence by paying an annual contribution of €1000,00 to have a PVDA member defend your interests!!

Easy to say Jan, however, LTO's policy has been based on damage limitation for years. The set areas are now killing us. Time and again, people have to surrender and fundamental rights are taken away and the supporters have to follow and swallow. This is going well as long as everyone can keep up with the changes and the ranks remain closed. Now that their survival is threatened, companies are standing up for themselves and fighting for it. Everyone decides for themselves how and in what way they commit themselves to this. As long as this remains within the framework of the law, no one has to condemn it.

Dear Mr Kievit, where can you still do something as a farmer without having to take Natura 2000 into account? So you admit that they were there for bacon and beans!
chubby farmer 14 December 2019
There is only 1 party abolishing itself here, and that is the farmers. Great move by MvdO to compare farmers with Jews. One half of the farmers will soon be hung up on by the other half (and the 'ordinary' population). If we don't have to buy them out anymore, much cheaper.
How nice that some pests fight themselves!

May the farmers who do want the best for nature and their future and who do not feel like the only ones working in the Netherlands, have a financially happy future.
Drent 14 December 2019
unfortunately for you, most citizens continue to support the farmers, everyone says things in the heat of battle that you could have phrased differently, and sometimes it's just how you want to hear it.
Skirt 14 December 2019
@Bolleboer, you dare to make Stalinist statements, many millions of citizens, including 100.000 and farmers have been murdered or deported under him. I'd only slow down a bit if I were you.
Geertje 15 December 2019
Lto is an institute with many interests in The Hague, don't forget that...
Ignore chubby farmer that's not a farmer is just stoking here..
