News Farmers protest

Tractors are briefly in front of the Binnenhof entrance

18 February 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 3 comments

A group of protesting farmers went to the Binnenhof tonight (Tuesday 18 February) with about 30 tractors. They have positioned themselves in front of the entrance with the tractors. After a few hours, they left just after 22.00 p.m.

The action was unannounced. According to the regional channel Regio15, it has been agreed that the farmers may remain at the Binnenhof until 21.30 pm, after which they can withdraw. That eventually became just after 22.00 p.m. It is surprising that the police seem surprised by the action. A few months earlier, a group of farmers also dived suddenly up in front of the entrance to the Binnenhof.

FDF chairman Mark van den Oever was also present at the pop-up action at the Binnenhof. The action is the prelude to the third major farmers' protest that Farmers Defense Force has announced in The Hague. It is estimated that between 5.000 and 10.000 farmers will return to the Hofstad to demonstrate against the nitrogen policy and the fact that they do not feel taken seriously by the cabinet and the House of Representatives.

Jeroen van Maanen, representative of FDF, gave up this morning Boerenbusiness.TV on that the organization wants the cabinet to take over the plans of the Agricultural Collective.

The fdf keeps calling for us to do it together. There are also many reports that more arable farmers should also go along. I think there are plenty of farmers coming along.

Think it's a pity that Jeroen van Maanen op boerenbusiness TV does not say a word about the arable farming problem. There are so many more problems than just nitrogen dairy farming!!!

As an arable farmer I feel heard within the FDF, the nitrogen concerns us all. I have developed sympathy for the FDF the moment they also thought about the minks, the government always tries to catch such a small group that they think they get away with more, with FDF there is support for everyone
