LTO Netherlands leaves the Agricultural Collective

10 May 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 24 comments

LTO Nederland has left the Agricultural Collective. The representative considers himself insufficiently represented within the monster association of 13 farmers' organizations. Moreover, the differences of opinion within the collective have become too high.

Marc Calon, chairman of LTO Nederland, and the three chairmen of LTO Noord, ZLTO and LLTB hinted at this in an extensive letter to members. This shows that there is division within the collective about the course to be followed, after agriculture minister Carola Schouten presented her nitrogen policy in a letter to the House of Representatives. According to the chairmen, there is also a group that wants the parties to come to "compulsory agreements under the direction of the Agricultural Collective".

Fundamental Differences
The space for other opinions and personal accents is limited in this, LTO notes. "Various other parties such as LTO Nederland opt for a looser and more informal collaboration." Over the past period, LTO has regularly clashed, also publicly, with Farmers Defense Force, among others. The LTO foremen put it this way: "It is no secret that there has been a lot of discussion both in front of and behind the scenes of the Agricultural Collective. About content, tone, accent and style. That is no surprise. more than 13 different agricultural organizations. The vision on how agricultural advocacy should be structured often differs fundamentally."

LTO is now picking up its trusted strategy for the Agricultural Collective. "As LTO, we have a distinctive profile that our members consciously choose; connecting, on the content and from a large network that has been built up in recent years." However, an emphasis is being shifted, the chairmen report. "Of course we also learn from the past. We realize that sometimes we have to be sharper and clearer, even when the compromise has turned out to be the highest achievable."

Unity and togetherness
The foremen seem to realize that the departure of LTO from the Agricultural Collective will not go down well with every agricultural entrepreneur. "The Agricultural Collective evokes a feeling of unity and togetherness in many farmers. That feeling is understandable. 'Strong together' is a deep-rooted wish from the cooperative roots of the sector that we share as LTO organisations."

It is still unclear what will happen to the Agricultural Collective. LTO emphatically opts, diplomatically puts it, to only work with fellow interest representatives that it also likes. "We want to continue to work with all parties that are constructively committed to the nitrogen dossier on the basis of equal goals and values."

Schouten now has exactly what she wants, because she has been slacking against Calon all the time. she can now divide and conquer the old-fashioned way. well done Marc!

Calon betrays his own supporters for his own gain, nothing new really.

don't understand that there is still a small part of the farmers who are members of that lto clique who are blind or something. or very stupid?

83% of lto members wanted lc to continue to exist with an extensive agenda. The lto board decides otherwise. Who still remains a member of lto, I do not understand. Lto has now shown itself that it is an organization without supporters. Every reason to make it clear to the minister once and for all that agreements with lto no longer have any support.

It's always laughing, screaming, roaring with the peasants!
Especially keep going like this. Wonderful entertainment in this time.

It's a very nice soap opera.
Maybe John de Mol can do something with it.

Well done LTO, we don't want to sit down with anarchists and street fighters, do we?
A bit of norm and decency is foreign to a lot of farmers.
Little is left of a peasant class, deeply sad!

The support of the ZLTO, LTO and related clubs is heading towards zero, that Calon is doing this is weak and shows that the interests of Boeren are not standing up.

You see what it does when you have to arrange a job as a farmer: especially poldering and nodding along with the politicians and cabinet.

The Corona also proves once again that less air traffic and car traffic improves the air enormously, but those farmers and their animals continue to produce.

The aviation and traffic figures are simply much higher than is currently stated and therefore the emissions from that side are also much higher.

That aviation has already been proven in the Lelystad story.

For road traffic, traffic figures that have been used come from the INWEVA model, which also indicates much lower figures than is actually the case.

There is already case law on this, including a dispute from the Municipality of Moerdijk, where this has been admitted by RWS, but with regard to emissions, people are wise to keep their mouths shut.

Road traffic is a lot of voters, and they don't dare to tackle it for fear of losing a seat.
Easy to make an electorally small group like the Farmers pay for it.....

Lto makes fun of herself.
Doesn't get any better with this club. Nothing remains.
It is dangerous for lto that it continues to present itself as THE interest group, if there are no large supporters left.

calon carries out murder on LTO. the few members that are still there are now also walking away. calon is well on its way to becoming a one-man faction. he remains alone as the only member.

why doesn't the board approve him?

he sold LTO to LNV for his own gain and a caress for his own (very large) ego.

they've brought the devil in with this man.

we are working on a petition with a group of members to get calon away.

Are you also done with being used as cannons of flesh for calon's own honor and glory? then sign up at LTO and use the #stopcalon on social media

group with members??
do not make me laugh.
what rock are they still under?
lto is on the brink of death. and that's a good thing.
they are vomited out by just about all farmers.
canceler 10 May 2020
where can you sign that petition?
canceling is the easy way, we won't let ourselves be chased away from our own club. let calon go away

Calon is a hot air balloon

With a lot of air in it, it's time those few members who are left pierce these

How many companies are still members of that club itself I think less than 25%

The fact that LTO is leaving the consultation says something. Here in the south-west we have already experienced several stunts (depoldering, etc.). In fact, they have nowhere to get off; they simply have to sit at the table and stand up for the sector. The mere fact that they are stepping out is of course heartbreaking. That actually says everything about this club. The next fact is, of course, that FDF would never have had a raison d'être if that LTO had functioned at all. I'm never in the mood to play it on person, but Calon is of course a very unfortunate choice and I really can't understand that such a left-wing Pvda was taken for this position (or maybe there is more behind it) .

You have a point Ivo, but I cannot understand how the current chairman ended up there.
Is there no application procedure? Has he not been tested? Were there no other candidates?

Where it went wrong, that is the moment that they no longer let the chairman choose from (those few) members. But the board itself appoints someone. The problem is that those other board members apparently haven't done their homework and that the support among (these few) members is still gone.
You can no longer respond.
