Marc Calon resigns immediately as LTO foreman

Marc Calon will step down as chairman of LTO Nederland. He takes this decision because there is insufficient support for him within the supporters of the organization. 

In close consultation, the joint conclusion was reached that Calon will not enter into a new term at the end of the year. Calon has therefore decided that it is better to stop working for LTO immediately, LTO Nederland reported in a statement.

In this statement, Calon states: "It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye. I have devoted myself passionately to the interests of farmers and horticulturists over the past 3,5 years. Unfortunately, I have to conclude that there is not enough there is support. A chairman can only work effectively with full support from all members. I connect my conclusions to that. I will not start a new term and will also immediately make room for my successor."

New chairman
The incumbent members of the board of LTO Nederland, Dirk Bruins, Wim Bens and Léon Faassen, will take over Calon's duties together with general manager Hans Van den Heuvel until the arrival of a new chairman. The board declares that the procedure will soon start to arrive at a new chairman who will represent farmers and horticulturists in both The Hague and Brussels on behalf of LTO Nederland.

LTO Nederland indicates that the organization does not provide any further explanation about Calon's departure.
