UK agricultural exports worth €922 million

In 2019, exports of Dutch agricultural products to the United Kingdom amounted to €922 million. That is not surprising because, after Germany, the British island is the most important trading partner. This calculate CBS, at the request of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

In 2019, exports of goods and services to the UK totaled €28,3 billion or; 3,5% of GDP. In addition to €922 million in agricultural goods, €1,7 million was recorded in re-exports of agricultural products and €4,6 million in agricultural-related services.

Compared to 5 years ago, the Netherlands has earned less from exports to the UK. The main industry is wholesale and brokerage. This branch accounted for €3,7 billion in 2019. Agriculture is in 6th place. The top 3 also includes holding and management consultancy firms and IT services.

In terms of goods exports, agriculture is again number 1, followed by the chemical industry and food. Agriculture depends on exports to the UK for 7,6% of its total budget. Germany is by far the 1st largest export destination for agricultural goods, followed by Belgium.
