Boermarke from Enschede is going to build a new production line for vegetable cheeses. The company says it wants to anticipate the high demand for vegetable alternatives to cheese.
Boermarke plans to produce more than 2021 tons of vegetable cheese daily in the first quarter of 10. In their own words, this cheese is indistinguishable from regular cheese in terms of taste, texture, color and smell. In addition to production, the packaging, grating and cutting of the cheese will also be done in-house.
Rising demand for vegetable cheese
The company also makes vegetable fresh and ice cream products based on coconut, oats, soy and almonds for various major brands and industrial customers. "Not only have we developed replacements for traditional Dutch cheeses, we have also developed feta and mozzarella style cheeses. Product development is still continuing based on market demand for replacements for other cheese varieties," product developer Emmy Bekhuis said in a statement.
In the coming weeks, the first machines for the production, ripening and processing of vegetable cheese will be installed in the factory in Enschede.
