Scotland supports farmers in investing

7 September 2020 - Kimberly Bakker

The Scottish government is launching a fund to support agricultural entrepreneurs in investing in new equipment. The fund is a result of the corona crisis and is part of a recovery plan, in which Scotland focuses on the rural economy.

Farmers in Scotland can, if they want to purchase (new) business assets, claim the £10 million (converted €11 million) fund. The subsidy scheme, called the 'Sustainable Agriculture Capital Grant Scheme' (SACGS), is a pilot and will last 5 weeks.

Helping farmers with changed working methods
Scottish farmers can apply for a grant of up to £20.000 (around €22.000) at a time. In this way, the Scottish Government wants to contribute to all its climate change ambitions. "By ensuring that our farmers have access to equipment, tools and knowledge, we can support them in the changing way of working," said Minister Fergus Ewing.
