The Dutch agribusiness is enthusiastic about the Agribusiness Award that Boerenbusiness awarded for the second time this year. In total, the editors received 27 applications from companies and organizations that compete with their product or service for this recognition for their performance.
This number has the expectations of Boerenbusiness and the independent jury, says editor-in-chief Eric de Lijster. "It is the second time that we present the Agribusiness Award. Last year it was a great success, but this year, of course, everything is different with all the uncertainty that the coronavirus entails. We also had to wait and see to what extent the head of entrepreneurs to be able to enroll."
Jury chairman Aalt Dijkhuizen also sees the challenges, but emphasizes resilience of the industry. "These are exciting times for the food and agribusiness. The corona and nitrogen crisis, the fertilizer policy and social pressure demand a lot from the sector, says Aalt Dijkhuizen. Strong entrepreneurship and innovations ensure that the sector gets through these challenges."
Boerenbusiness has received many enthusiastic reactions from participants. Many companies see this as an opportunity to draw extra attention to their product or service in these times when trade fairs and other events are cancelled. The purpose of Boerenbusiness and the jury is out to show how much innovative power and creativity there is in the sector and to put these achievements in the spotlight. "It is wonderful to see that so many companies and organizations are eager to show what they have to offer agricultural entrepreneurs this year," says Eric de Lijster.
An important condition for the jury of the Agribusiness Award is that the potential contenders make a significant contribution to the farm's business operations and returns. It must also be an ingenious product or service and have already proven itself in practice. "It is a challenging task for the jury to ultimately designate the winner from all applications," says De Lijster.
Explain in person
The jury, led by Aalt Dijkhuizen, selects a few finalists from the current applications. These nominees will have the opportunity to personally explain their submission to the jury. After these discussions, the jury finally takes the plunge and chooses the winner. The nominees will be announced as soon as possible Boerenbusiness.nl announced.
