ForFarmers takes over De Hoop Mengvoeders in Zelhem. After this acquisition, ForFarmers has claimed a leading position in the broiler market in the Netherlands, Belgium and West Germany. De Hoop Mengleiders sold 322.000 tons of poultry feed last year, representing a turnover of €110 million.
The companies announced this on Monday morning. ForFarmers will take over the shares from De Hoop for the compound feed and transport activities, including the factory with adjacent real estate. The new combination will be named ForFarmers-De Hoop. The acquisition amount has not yet been disclosed.
De Hoop sells approximately 80% of the amount of feed produced in the Netherlands and the remaining 20% in Belgium and West Germany. Pieter Wolleswinkel, director ForFarmers Netherlands, says in a statement that he is pleased with the deal: "At De Hoop, the quality of feed and advice is of paramount importance. This combination provides a strong proposition to all stakeholders and is fully in line with our recently announced Build to Grow 2025 strategy."
Added value to consumers
According to the companies, 1 international organization offers added value where feed quality and advice are central. "Consumers find it increasingly important to know where food comes from and the demand for high-quality and sustainably produced food is increasing. This leads to more strategic collaborations, especially in the broiler poultry chain. The acquisition of De Hoop by ForFarmers should be considered in this light. seen," they said in the statement.
Gert-Jan Buunk, director and owner of De Hoop Mengvoeders, will lead ForFarmers-De Hoop together with Michiel Schreurs, director of poultry ForFarmers Netherlands. Completion of the transaction is subject to approval from the Dutch and German competition authorities and is expected in the first quarter of 2021.
