LTO rejects Haanstra and Vogelaar as chairman

20 October 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 22 comments

Jan Cees Vogelaar and Jaap Haanstra will not become duo-chairmen of LTO Nederland. The two report on their website that LTO prefers another candidate. Haanstra and Vogelaar regret that they have not been elected, but declare that they respect the decision of the LTO directors.

LTO Nederland reports that it has found a candidate for president on Tuesday evening. On November 10, the members' council of the organization can vote on this candidate and until then LTO will keep his name secret. Vogelaar and Haanstra announced their candidacy for the chairmanship of the agricultural and horticultural organization in mid-July.

In an exclusive interview for Boerenbusiness they told LTO wanting to fundamentally change. They also wanted to put an end to the divisions within agriculture and to arrive at one voice on behalf of the organized farmers and horticulturists. So it won't get that far. The two say in a statement that they are sorry, pointing to various polls that showed support of 70 to 80% of farmers and horticulturists for their candidacy.

Wishing you just as much support
Haanstra and Vogelaar wish the new chairman of LTO Nederland every success, with the subtle addition "to wish just as much support and supporters as they were expected to have." They state that they have had 2 job interviews in the past few months, which in their view went "pleasant."

The first was with employees of the headhunting agency engaged by LTO. The second meeting was with the regional chairmen of LTO Noord, ZLTO and LLTB. These are Dirk Bruins, Wim Bens and Léon Faassen respectively. The director of LTO Nederland, Hans van den Heuvel, was also present.

end lto final, an organization is not a member organization if they don't listen to their members.

second time in a row they make a mistake when appointing a chairman. first that left Groningen eideltuit that had no support and now they are hitting the same stone again.

glad I don't work at the member administration today, because it will get busy with cancellations

I think LTO did that cleverly not to take those two. There has been considerable pressure from ministry and green organizations not to take these two.

They are afraid of a huge clash with LTO if these two become leaders, because they are working to get the agriculture out of the Netherlands. It would have been war.
LTO is happy to participate in this now, they receive a lot of money from LNV to do hopeless projects and research. The estimates range from 25 million to 100 million per year from lnv to lto. this stream would have stopped with the arrival of the two lords. And then one would have to fire staff and not get nice side jobs like Marc Kanon at nature monuments.

So the peasantry has been sold to lnv for the money and the plush.

good luck everyone

worrying that this is happening, but first we have to wait and see who will be nominated. You can always cancel lto

Not a member of this club, but think this is the best move in years, leaving these two nitwits alone.

Apparently Lto still has a few members who contribute to their own sale?

of which representative are you a member? if you say: “none”, then you have to ask yourself whether it is good if there is no more representation, how the politicians will decide.
lto is certainly not holy, but without representation it really becomes a misery

The rumors are here.
That Geert de Groot will become the new chairman.
Hopefully it's just rumours.

No, it's time for a female president. I put my money on Marianne Thieme.

I call advocacy something different from poldering and giving away all interests! Furthermore, I certainly do not expect a representative to allow himself to become financially dependent on other parties at the negotiating table, because then negotiations are quickly over, as has also been shown. There are other parties such as FDF and Agractie that have clearly taken a stand against misguided emotional government policies! Surely you can hardly expect me to want to remain a member of an organization that can never or does not want to put a fist on the table and therefore continues to give away interests under the guise of what is socially feasible!
Labeling a number of action companies supported by less than 10% of the electorate as society! That shows what, in my eyes, is completely rotten and wrong from the inside, politically interwoven civil service in the service of the so-called members! Calon was a good exponent of what came out of this. It got it ready to publicly pillage its own members as criminals while the majority of the members involved were totally innocent! How rotten is that organization? As a sensible farmer I am deeply ashamed of that and for that reason I cannot be a member! So you obviously see these abuses differently and even support them?!

whatever figure they put forward, she (because it will be a woman) will never have the support that these two gentlemen had/have.

It is crazy that the LTO board simply does not listen to the supporters. They already speak on behalf of the minority, but soon they will also decide as a minority.

I would not like to be in the shoes of the new chairwoman, knowing that you have no support, and you have birdwatcher on the left and haanstra on your shoulder

Why the focus on LTO also in the comments? I see parallel clubs like FDF, which is becoming an association, one can join and choose the president. If there is at least a founding meeting and board elections. Unless Sieta and Mark want to hold power arbitrarily within their FDF. I don't see that question anywhere in the agrimedia. Good journalists ask these kinds of questions. That should also be a big question for the editors and editor-in-chief in this medium.

Moreover, only members have something to say. Non-members stand on the sidelines shouting. If they want to have influence, they just become members. We won't know more until November 10.

The danger does not come from LNV alone. The question is what our large cooperatives want for the person in that seat. The commercial interest of the processing industry outweighs the income of the Dutch farmer.

Very, very, very sorry.! I had great faith in the Vogelaar/Haanstra duo, because they did not give up on fake news and they interpreted current reality! Because the current board members still believe that they can steer it in the right direction in a decent conversation. But the current left-wing press and the current government officials are so cunningly mean that the necessary heavyweights have to be countered, and Messrs Vogelaar and Haanstra could have handled that! I am so very disappointed in the current lTO that I will probably cancel my membership next year after about 45 years.!? We need board members with backbones at the LTO, and not softies and half healers.!!!!

"The other one did it" is always the easiest response. You see toddlers and other infantile minded people doing that too. Apparently that is the level of different farmers. Too bad.

I don't understand Pieterman knecht, he keeps turning it around.
It is as if he is looking outside, behind the window at a beautiful landscape with a future, but when he turns and looks back he is in a garbage dump with a lot of stench.

Apparently our loyal help from Sinterklaas does not want to see that LTO has turned it into a big garbage dump, and has buried all the farmers in the garbage dump. While on the other side of the window there are people who can solve it and clean up the garbage dump.

The bag of ginger nuts is empty, eaten empty by the directors who did not want to listen to their members, but wanted to sit on Santa's lap from the hague. Who had hired a weeder who told the media at the first time that the children were naughty because they had committed fraud, and that they had to take them in the bag to The Hague to say sorry to Miss Carola. Or the other weever servants who thought that their children did not want to demonstrate because it was not necessary that the godfather himself could take the coals out of the fire.
Had to come back to that later and obediently stood at the fence on the Malieveld to show support for the poor children.

No weever, you should not point to others, but name the reason why it came into existence, and put that in the big book of Sinterklaas, and give yourself the rod.

Who is sweet gets treats, who is naughty is a membership of LTO
