The jury of the Boerenbusiness Award has nominated 4 companies with their product or service for the Agribusiness Award 2020. In the coming period they will introduce themselves and the product to you. Today Lely is talking about the automatic milk processing system, the Lely Orbiter.
Guus van Roessel, Director business development at Lely, received the nomination. He thinks it is great that Lely has been nominated and sees it as a great appreciation. "It is an honor to be nominated, especially next to such other good nominations."
Closer to the consumer
With the Lely Orbiter, the dairy farmer can process the milk into a consumer product directly in the yard. The fully automated milk factory does not only focus on cost savings, but also creates added value on the farm.
"The dairy farmer thus becomes a supplier of an end product instead of a supplier of raw materials," says Van Roessel. The farmer is closer to the consumer and in this way can also be a face to the market, so that the product is removed from anonymity. "This allows the entrepreneur to distance himself from the commodity market and really distinguish himself with a unique product."
The jury of the Agribusiness Award led by Aalt Dijkhuizen is very pleased with the added value that the product creates. "It is particularly appealing that you have developed an innovation that for once does not focus on greater productivity or efficiency, but on more added value of products on the farm," the jury commented.
Presentation on November 26
The 4 nominees will hold a closed presentation to the jury on Friday 6 November. The winner of the 26 nominees will be announced on November 4. Due to corona, this denouement can be followed digitally and for everyone live on Boerenbusiness.NL.
