Rabobank withdraws further from the countryside

12 November 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Half of the Rabobank branches will disappear. It is expected that locations in rural areas in particular will close their doors, a trend that has been visible for years. Partly due to the corona crisis, the branches are visited less and less.

In the past, just about every village in our country had a Rabobank branch, but that has long since ceased to be the case. More than 100 branches will disappear in the near future, because the cooperative bank wants to cut costs. There will soon be 100 to 150 branches, where there were 335 before the corona crisis. The number of local bank branches is reduced by 18 to 89.

For the time being, the clear-cutting has no consequences for employment, the bank said. The employees are continuing to provide banking services online, something that is appropriate for today's times.
