Farmel says goodbye to forage trade

24 December 2020 - Chanti Oussoren

Handelhuis Farmel from Emmeloord will stop the Farmel Feed department on 1 January. The company wants to further focus on further global growth in the dairy trade. Farmel Feed is bought by 2 buyers.

Boerkamp Vee en Kalverhandel and Agri-handel Broere will take over Farmel's forage business from next year. Stephan Boerkamp was already a well-known face because of the work at Farmel Feed. "I am pleased that our own employee is also continuing the forage trade," said Jan Henry van der Linde, founder and director of Farmel, in a statement. With the takeover, the name Farmel Feed will disappear.

The forage trade was one of Farmel's first activities, but according to Van der Linde, the dairy trade has grown to such an extent that the company has to make choices. "It was not an easy decision to part with it. However, you can't just do it on the side. The dairy trade has grown so much that we have to make choices."
