Vion plans to take over the Belgian beef company Adriaens. With the acquisition, Vion wants to strengthen the regional approach in Western Europe, the meat company announced on Tuesday.
Vion has been working for a long time with cattle slaughterer Adrians, where 126 employees are on the payroll. According to CEO Ronald Lotgerink, the planned acquisition is in line with the regional approach that Vion has in mind. "Our customers want to see what they buy and where it comes from. That is why we are working on regional chains that are composed based on the demand of our customers," Lotgerink said in a statement.
With the acquisition of Adriaens, Vion is formally establishing itself in Belgium for the first time. Vion mainly focuses on the processing and valorisation of Belgian White Blue. The acquisition amount has not been disclosed.
