Despite a turbulent year, with changing market conditions, AgruniekRijnvallei has had a good year. More animal feeds have been sold than in 2019 and turnover has also increased. Despite a shrinking market, the company sees growth opportunities in the market.
AgruniekRijnvallei sold almost 2020 tons of animal feed in 675.000. Compared to 2019, this is an increase of more than 3%. All sectors contributed to the growth, but especially in the cattle sector, the company was able to tap new customers. Martin Grift, the general manager of AgruniekRijnvallei, is pleased with the positive customer balance. "We saw growth opportunities at the start of the year, but if you then see difficult market conditions (the corona crisis, the problems with yields in agriculture and the nitrogen discussion), then it can get exciting."
Opportunities in the market
From a financial point of view, AgruniekRijnvallei also had a good year, although the exact results will only be announced at the end of February/beginning of March. The prospects for 2021 are also not bad. "Our ambition is to remain positive in the customer balance and to grow further, and I consider this feasible. These are not easy times for agricultural entrepreneurs, but we certainly see opportunities to maintain our good position," said Grift.
Grift also stated when asked that he expected feed prices to rise in the first half of 2021. "There is a feed price increase coming and we are actually in the middle of that."
