Adjusted subsidy scheme for stable innovations

10 February 2021 - Linda van Eekeres

Livestock farmers who have devised a new technique or measure to reduce greenhouse gas or stable emissions can apply for a subsidy for the development of barn innovations. This regulation has been amended by the Ministry of Agriculture. €25 million is available this round.

With the modified regulation, a combination of barn techniques and management measures can also be developed. Anyone who has already started developing an innovation and has not yet measured it, can also apply for a subsidy for the measurement phase in the amended scheme. In the first phase of projects, 25% of the costs are subsidized.

Poultry farmers can now also apply for this subsidy. The scheme was already open to farmers of dairy cattle, veal calves, pigs and dairy goats. The scheme is intended for innovation in both new and existing housing systems. Housing systems include: animal housing, manure storage, feed storage, manure cellars and manure processing installations.

€25 million grant
This application period is a total of €25 million available. €9,2 million for pig farms, €8,8 million for dairy farms, €3 million for poultry farms and €2 million for both dairy goat and veal calf farms.

Applications can be made from 24 February to 4 May 2021. There will be more application periods for this subsidy in the coming years.
