'Economic growth of 1% for agriculture in 2022'

11 March 2021 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Rabobank expects a growth of 2022% for agriculture in 1. For this year, the bank, like ING, expects a growth of 0,5%. That is what the bank states in a series of analyzes published today. For the entire economy, the bank expects a smooth recovery from the second quarter. We may even be back to pre-corona levels by the end of the year.

Agriculture had already recovered from the relatively small corona dip at the end of last year, the bank says. "Despite a difficult period at the beginning of 2020 (for floriculture, among others), a large part of the sector was reasonably immune to the economic crisis. Some small sub-sectors, such as broilers and calves, are affected longer by the corona crisis and show a slower recovery." The bank is forecasting slight growth this year for land-based livestock farming, greenhouse vegetables and ornamental and bulb cultivation.

Economy will grow 2021% in 2,1
The entire Dutch economy may be back to pre-corona level by the end of this year, the bank said. "Although the Dutch economy will probably still shrink in the first quarter compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 due to the strict lockdown, it will recover relatively quickly afterwards. The economy is expected to grow by 2,1% this year, after the contraction of 3,8 .2020% in 2022. Dutch GDP growth is expected to be 3,7% in XNUMX. There is room for growth in a number of sectors this year, although not all sectors will fully recover."
