AgruniekRijnvallei closes 2020 with a plus

17 March 2021 - Chanti Oussoren

AgruniekRijnvallei (AR) achieved a good result last year, despite the special circumstances. All 4 pillars of the cooperative's strategy made a positive contribution to the result.

AR achieved a turnover of €2020 million in the 283 financial year, which is approximately €20 million more than in 2019. The financial year was closed with a positive result of €500.000. In this result, an amount of more than €2,7 million has already been taken into account. With this, the cooperative has managed to achieve €100.000 more profit than in 2019.

AR's strategy is based on the pillars of feed, plant, storage and transhipment and shops. All pillars contributed positively to the good result.

Growing animal feed sales in a shrinking market
So there is a total of 3,2% more animal feed sold than in 2019 and sales have also started well this year. This is positive in a declining compound feed market and under challenging market conditions.

AR Plant realized a turnover plus (+2020%) in 1,3 and stable turnover was achieved at the transhipment locations. As a result of the pandemic, raw materials were scarcer and there was more hoarding. As a result, stocks were in storage longer and throughput was considerably less.

The corona measures in combination with the beautiful weather caused a huge crowd at the Welkoop stores, which resulted in a turnover increase of no less than 24,4%.

Price reduction
The price reduction is €5 per tonne for the purchased compound feeds from AR Feed in 2020 and 4% for the purchased crop protection products from AR Plant. Over 2020 AR has paid out a total of more than 9,4 million euros. In addition to the aforementioned price reduction, this also includes: the bonus, payment and member discount, the extra AR benefit and the extra price reduction already provided in August 2020 on crop protection products.
