In one of the 4 reports that were published on Friday and that the new cabinet must provide guidelines for nitrogen policy, the assumption is a reduction in nitrogen emissions of 50 to 70%. There is no substantiation for this, according to the Agrifacts Foundation (Staff).
It concerns the exploration 'Nitrogen space for the future' by the advisory group ABD Topconsult, a small advisory group of experienced top civil servants within the national government. The compilers say that they base themselves on a few ecological studies when determining the percentages of 50 to 70%. "Staff wanted to check these ecological studies, but they appear not to be available. The conclusion drawn is therefore not verifiable. The advisory group confirms that this study is not yet available," says Staff on her website.
The foundation adds an email from an official. In it, this person reports: "I did speak to the people involved and saw the results. But I made limited use of them in the analysis, because the result is not yet public."
'Incorrect'
"It is simply not correct that you present studies that are not visible to others," says Geesje Rotgers, who is an investigative journalist affiliated with the Agrifacts Foundation when asked. "Conclusions are presented, but you do not know what they are based on and how they came about. You just have to trust the central government on its blue eyes."
Staf himself is conducting a study in which scientists collect information from studies that are based on practical measurements. Staff cannot yet say what will come of this, but promises to publish about it very soon.
