A majority of the House of Representatives wants an equivalent of the so-called SME test for agricultural entrepreneurs. New laws and regulations are assessed in advance by a panel of entrepreneurs for workability.
A motion by Derk Boswijk (CDA) for an agricultural practice test was passed by a majority in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (11 May). Co-applicants were: Thom van Campen (VVD), Caroline van der Plas (BBB), Roelof Bisschop (SGP), Gideon van Meijeren (FvD) and Dion Graus (PVV).
The government has to investigate how this agricultural practice test can be implemented in every new bill, including European regulations that are converted into Dutch law. The House wants to be informed about this in the autumn of 2021. The motion states that farmers - just like SMEs - are entrepreneurs; that farmers can no longer see the wood for the trees due to increasing regulations and that farmers are eager to think along about the practical feasibility of new rules and laws.
