More farmers and horticulturists apply for corona support

25 August 2021 - Linda van Eekeres - 4 comments

In the second quarter of this year, many more agricultural entrepreneurs claimed the Fixed Charges Allowance (TVL) to compensate for damage as a result of the corona pandemic. The number increased by a third compared to the first quarter. In total, far fewer entrepreneurs (-44%) called on TVL.

With the TVL, entrepreneurs who suffer at least a 30% loss of turnover and have at least €1.500 fixed costs per quarter can apply for support when paying the fixed costs. In the first quarter, 2.783 farmers applied for the corona support, in the second quarter there were 4.239. Of the agricultural entrepreneurs who applied for aid in the first quarter, 2.614 received it. The amount paid out was €113.982.284 in total.

The applications for the second quarter could be submitted until 20 August and are still partly pending. 2.371 agricultural entrepreneurs have already received subsidy for the second quarter. So far this concerns an amount of €92.346.647. Just like in the first quarter, growers of grains, legumes and oilseed growers and those of potatoes and other root and tuber crops formed the largest group of TVL recipients.

The TVL subsidy percentage was raised to 100% for the first time this quarter. For the first time, entrepreneurs could also choose from two periods against which turnover is compared to determine the loss of turnover.

31 August application for third quarter
Entrepreneurs can submit an application for the TVL for the third quarter from August 31, 08.00. The conditions remain the same. The maximum subsidy is €550.000 for SMEs and €600.000 for large companies. In Q3 too, entrepreneurs can choose from 2 reference periods: the third quarter of 2019 or the third quarter of 2020.

A small part of the companies that have made use of the TVL schemes will have to deal with the European state aid limit of €1,8 million in the third quarter. In that case, RVO will adjust the subsidy amount downwards to the maximum allowed amount.

Completely misses the point and makes no sense at all
Hopefully, if things get a little better later, we can pay a little less tax
The diesel excise duty here in the Netherlands is the highest for agriculture in the entire EU
In Germany they get 22 cents back from the state and in Belgium they pay 50 cents less for the diesel
France also has such a scheme
