Action plan to divide land stopping farmer

12 October 2021 - Linda van Eekeres - 5 comments

LTO Nederland and eleven large companies in the agri-food sector, including FrieslandCampina, Vion and Cosun, are arguing for central management for the redistribution of land that becomes available when farms stop or are bought out as a peak loader. Most of the land has to go to agricultural use and nature, but there will also be 20.000 hectares left for more than 1 million homes. The plan requires €1,5 to €2 billion per year.

The companies and LTO, which have united in the AgriNL network, are calling on the political parties forming the Binnenhof to take 'specific and area-oriented measures' - including in a full-page advertisement in the FD - to give the agricultural sector a sustainable perspective again. to offer.

Mutual exchange of land and rights
AgriNL wants to restructure the Netherlands at a regional level and has therefore divided the Netherlands into 113 regions. The intention is that interested parties can exchange land and rights with each other. To ensure that this runs smoothly, the network proposes a (re)introduction of the Land Development, led by a small, central program organization: the National Agency for the Rural Areas (RLG).

With an annual investment of €1,5 to €2 billion, according to AgriNL, this regional economic exchange process of land and tradable emission rights (N, P, CO2 and NH3) can reduce the pressure of agriculture on the living environment in ten to fifteen years' time. is lit.

Space for 1 million homes
In the next ten years, according to AgriNL 3% of the agricultural companies annually, because they do not have a successor. In the network plan, 1% of the companies are also bought out as peak loaders. "For example, the number of agricultural companies will fall by 16.758 and 603.301 hectares of land will become available. With central and regional management, 583.301 hectares can be repurposed for agricultural use and nature. The other 20.000 hectares will be used for the construction and infrastructure of 1 million homes ( based on 61 homes per hectare)", according to a summary of the action plan.

The eleven companies that have united with LTO in AgriNL are: Agrifirm, Avebe, De Heus, ForFarmers, Lely, Plukon, Rabobank, Cosun, FrieslandCampina, VanDrie and Vion.

Agree Thomas!

Who do they think they are to decide about our companies/land.

Fortunately my cooperative the czav does not participate in this club.

At Cosun , I opposed the expansion of the llb 's .
I was a big proponent of transferring the quota to llbs .
However, for an apple and an egg, they gave all growers llbs to increase their resource quantity.

Then I already foresaw problems that this would not turn out well.
The quota volume should have been maintained so that you could have a good balance on those beets. The extra beets can be supplied/grown in a "beet pool". This is volatile and with rising (world) demand you benefit quickly and with a falling market you have a lower price.
You will receive the sugar price with member surcharge on the quota of beets (quatum llbs).

Result you would have had a good balance on your limited beet acreage.
Now the members' allowance is being paid out in a diluted way over the many llb's.
We had sustainable beet cultivation for the future

Cosun will have major problems in the future with raw material security for beets.
That is why they are now beeping with the 7th nitrate regulation.

The shore turns the ship.....
