LTO Netherlands stays outside the Agricultural Collective 2.0

8 November 2021 - Klaas van der Horst - 10 comments

LTO Nederland will not join a new Agricultural Collective, but is happy to participate in periodic mutual consultations. The organization announced this in a statement. LTO says it is looking for cooperation without a 'straitjacket'.

LTO Nederland does not discuss what exactly it sees as a straitjacket, but also indicates that she sees substantive problems in a kind of resumption of the previous collaboration.

In its own words, LTO Nederland does not have the manpower to participate in a new structure. In addition, in the opinion of LTO, the Agricultural Collective is not balanced in terms of representation, because it is too much livestock-oriented and insufficiently plant-based. Finally, in the opinion of LTO, the parties in a new collective to be formed pay too little attention to organic and multifunctional agriculture.

Not quite dismissive
In the statement, LTO Nederland emphasizes several times that it is not completely opposed to cooperation. Various other forms of collaboration are mentioned, for example, although they are more vertically structured. In addition, the organization declares that it is prepared to enter into periodic consultations with the agricultural trade unions and movements in order to harmonize the lobby 'on the basis of everyone's own identity and commitment'.

Mark van den Oever, chairman of Farmers Defense Force (FDF) is disappointed in an initial reaction. FDF has been trying to breathe new life into the Agricultural Collective for some time now. "Despite all our efforts behind the scenes...", he told FDF followers on Telegram, in response to the LTO statement.

Similar to LTO, all these initiatives are mainly for livestock farming, i.e. cow farmers.

Great right Rana?
Sjaak wants to get rid of every farmer at all costs!!
Recently been in LTO building, only Party for the Animals supporters work!!
nice solidarity, with a stretched leg in it, otherwise there will be no farmer left in 5 years!

Then let the departments participate, but LTO try the slogan unity makes power instead of division a majority of the agricultural sector wants that and don't come up with that nonsense of not having an eye for organic etc. Van der Tak must first prove that what wanting to play with the farmers is better for the environment and nature.
Van der Tak listen to your supporters if this is too difficult then we will look for another " agreement"
Remember well van der Tak division is going to cost the sector the head the government only wants one thing "DIVIDE AND RULE"
And LTO is eagerly cooperating in that, you don't get it.

It is simply a fact that many farmers' advocates have little regard for arable farmers. and when arable farming once again stands up for itself, they are immediately reprimanded. unity is beautiful but love has to come from 2 and in the farmer's case several sides

if I was a minister, I wouldn't sit down with LTO!
Well with the others, only then is there a good chance that you will remove the dissatisfaction!

I agree with Sjaak, arable farming is hardly ever discussed, only with measures, everything in favor of livestock farming.

what is stated above is partly true. but I do know that pig farming and arable farming work together a lot. Arable farming must always bleed for the benefits that cattle farming is allotted, eg derogation.

You will never come to unity with this bullshit!

If we continue to whine as a sector, as in the reactions above, there will never be political respect for the agricultural and horticultural sector. Then they continue to see us as a bunch of farmers trying to catch each other's flies. Let everyone, both manure processor and breeder and everything in between, jump over their own shadow and fight as a front for agriculture, horticulture and related companies in the sector, for the things that really matter at the moment. It really is about the future for agricultural Netherlands.
