The German banks and also feed cooperatives Ems Vechte and VR Bank are joining forces and will work closely together. Compound feed production mostly takes place in the border regions. Increasingly, market share is being gained here in the Netherlands.
Ems Vechte produces 750.000 tons on an annual basis, VR Bank 150.000 tons. By merging the volumes, an attempt is made to realize synergy benefits. Intensive cooperation is sought in areas such as raw materials purchasing, production and logistics, as well as in the area of banking activities.
Together, the farmers' cooperatives believe they are better able to respond to the rapidly changing banking landscape, which involves digitization and changing consumer trends. According to the managements of both cooperatives, the combination of banking activities and compound feed is a unique combination that reinforces each other. In their own words, both cooperatives are in good financial shape.
East Netherlands and Veluwe
The company does not want to say how many tons of compound feed Ems Vechte sells in the Netherlands from a competitive point of view, but this is in any case a substantial part of the annual sales. It is reported that several dozen bulk trucks deliver to Dutch livestock farmers every day. Especially in the east of the Netherlands and the Veluwe, the company has received many pig farmers as customers in recent years. In addition to compound feed, Ems Vechte is also active in biogas and arable farming.
