Smooth harvest, more starch

Potato price Avebe 15 percent higher

16 May 2017 - Niels van der Boom - 14 comments

Starch potato growers are paid 2016 euros more per ton of potatoes by Avebe for the 2015 campaign and compared to 5. The campaign price is 68 euros per tonne. Including the maximum premiums and allowances, this amounts to an average of 81 euros per tonne. An increase of 15 percent compared to the 2015 harvest.

The campaign price includes a premium of 3 euros per tonne for full delivery of the A volume. On top of the potato price are premiums for the starch content, the quality premium and the delivery time. This brings the average price to 81 euros per tonne of starch potatoes. The costs of loading and transport are for the account of Avebe.

High starch content
"The last campaign was characterized by a relatively high starch content in the potatoes," said spokeswoman Janet Katerberg. 'This explains the big difference with the price of the 2015 harvest. The high starch content has a positive effect on the supply and processing of the potatoes. This results in the highest average price ever. One percent extra starch, on top of the average, means 4 euros per tonne of premium. In individual cases, the price per tonne can therefore rise to above 100 euros per tonne.'

According to Katerberg, the campaign went well and relatively smoothly on average: 'The campaign started gradually, after which the supply and processing continued stable over the entire period. No further details were forthcoming. For example, the potato processor had to deal with power cuts in the past, which slowed down the campaign. That was not the case this year.'

Performance award coming in November
The 2017 starch potato campaign is expected to start in the second or third week of August. The multi-year average is around August 15. After the end of the financial year, on August 1, a distribution of the cooperative result is expected. The amount depends on the final result. In November, the performance price known created. This is the total amount that Avebe has paid for potatoes, together with the net result. In 2016, the performance price was 77 euros per tonne.

Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer satisfied with the payout price, also had a block for the factory from Steenderen, much more tare and ultimately a lower balance. If Avebe keeps up with this, I don't have to grow chips potatoes anymore

Avebe growers have sold shares en masse in recent years, with the money to dive into the chips?

That's right, they are now coming back en masse, because AVEBE is doing so well and it increasingly smells of suspicious circumstances with the processors in the Netherlands.
With a big harvest you don't get trucks, and with a bad harvest they rob you empty, with high tares and artificially low prices.

The cooperative model is not so bad after all, instead of sending your money to America, Canada or a person

If only I had sand, sigh

what kind of kilos can you harvest from that stuff on average 85tons or so?
If you don't have €7000.-ha yet, uncle is just a bit more than a grain balance?

Usually in these areas, 3 or 4 times are irrigated, seed potatoes, soil removal, fertilization weeds and disease control

again such a peasant comment. costs with us are much lower on the sand, and yields from the good varieties are much higher than on clay.

oh and we can just harvest when it rains

what a childish whining.
the fact is that we should be happy that Avebe pays more and the prospects are good, partly because of the protein, which will play a positive role.
Due to this positive price development, Aviko will also have to pay more for their flakes of potatoes and as a result the fries factory will have to pay more for French fries potatoes in order to remain financially interesting for the growers.
so a positive development

Just make seed potatoes a bit more expensive and the factory has its margin again. Because those farmers can't order poters anywhere else

you can whine about anything but you have to be realistic.
the seed traded by the industry this year for the same money as in 2016

So an Avebe grower with a yield of 50 tons, this is already very high, and with a price of 8,1 euro cents from storage.
Gives a balance of € 4050,00,
Where no big plus can be added as with the French fries potatoes where in the last 4 years there was 3 x a plus.
That is why many growers want to get rid of their shares and there is no buyer to be found, not even with € 600,00 a share of 25 tons. There are now lawsuits with Avebe to get rid of those mandatory supply contracts. Because you have to deliver if you have a contract
Even if the mice are dead in front of the pantry. It is possible if the land costs nothing and TBM seed potatoes for little and 50 m2 of manure with a lot of money. But the costs will go up

@piepertje, you are a positive math miracle
50 tons x 8,1 ct is the gross proceeds, no balance of 4050 euros

It is impossible without cap money. The profit comes from Brussels Bad thing
