Nedato has achieved a result of more than €2016 for the 25 harvest in week 13 for Agria in the pool without presale. What that means for the individual grower depends entirely on the mix he has chosen in the Flex System.
On Thursday, the growers were informed of the average grower prices achieved for all components of the Nedato Flex System. Growers who placed their potatoes suitable for fries at a fixed price received an amount of €12,79 credited to their account. This is an average over all breeds. Click prices yielded €22,08, including discount, while the top and bottom pool yielded an average of €15,28 across all varieties. Here too an average, because the price depends on breed and delivery time.
The pool without pre-sales achieved a result of €24,69, on week 13, on average for all varieties. For fries potatoes at the daily price, an amount of €23,60 applies. This concerns an average price for all varieties over the entire marketing year. The fixed prices, daily prices and click prices have already been settled.
Table Potato Pool
The average realized prices in the table potato pool amount to €25,20 per 100 kg. The variation in prices is large. Good qualities are highly rewarded and exceed €28. Every year the difference between the best and worst results is more than 100%.
Excluding dividend
In addition to the above-mentioned grower prices in the pool, a dividend is paid to members after the end of the financial year. In recent years this has been between €100 and €167 per hectare. This dividend is not included in the prices above.
Significant water damage to Nedato area
The 2016/17 season was characterized by abundant precipitation in spring. The Nedato area was hit hard, director Wim van de Ree said during the pool meeting. "In the Middle and East of Brabant, in Belgium and in Limburg, 15% of the regional Nedato acreage was lost. Then it became dry. However, the early potatoes could not be harvested due to drought. A lot of irrigation was applied to prevent harvesting damage and blue to prevent."
Quality problems
Quality problems were found in both table and chip potatoes in the harvested damage and blue areas. There were also a striking number of growth cracks last year. The potato yield was more than 10% lower than average. "The market responded to this. After a cautiously optimistic start at around €15, the market gradually rose to €25. After a small dip from late February to mid-April of around €20, the market rose again to €25 by the end season."
It is clear that the chip potato market was the driving force behind the prices. Export was moderate in volume and clearly lower in prices. The market for washable potatoes was under pressure from low prices for good quality in Germany.
