Aviko Potato is also publishing its first results for trial harvesting from week 30. These show an average yield. The year 2017 is not in the lower regions, but it is certainly not possible to talk about a topper at the moment.
Aviko publishes weekly test harvesting figures for various potato crops in the Netherlands every year. This year it does so, for the time being, very concisely and without making any distinction between races. This concerns the 4 largest varieties that Aviko processes: Fontane, Agria, Innovator and Victoria. At least that was the list from previous years. The plots correspond to the total volumes that Aviko has in those growing regions. The trial harvests take place at the same growers as much as possible.
Low underwater weight
The result of week 30 is a gross yield of 35 tons per hectare. That is below the level of 2014 and 2012, but above, among other things, the level of 2016. Together with 2013, it scored the lowest result. The percentage 50 millimeters upwards, Aviko counts from 40 millimeters, is more than 60%. This gives it a high score. The underwater weight is approximately 325. That is the second lowest result in 1 years.
Small growth
Potato trading house Van der Linde in Emmeloord also started trial harvesting in week 30. In week 31, there was little growth on most plots. However, 1 plot stands out. There the monster went up with 6 tons. The average is now 42,55 tonnes per hectare, compared to 41,65 tonnes per hectare last week. All plots concern the Innovator variety in the Noordoostpolder, spread over 5 plots.
