The most recent trial harvesting figures from Aviko Potato and Van der Linde both show that the potato crops have grown well in week 31. It was really 'potato weather'. Moderate temperatures with adequate moisture. At least, that is the picture that is being painted for the Netherlands.
Aviko Potato started the first trial harvests in week 30. From this year onwards, the results of all varieties will be bundled. This produces 1 value. This concerns the Agria, Fontane, Innovator and Victoria varieties. Samples come from all growing regions where Aviko sources potatoes. In addition to the Netherlands, this also includes Belgium, Germany and France. However, that is to a limited extent.
Second best result
On average for all varieties, the result from week 31 is 42 tons per hectare. This means that the yield shifts to the level of 2012. The second best year in 5 years. Only in 2014 was the yield even higher. The percentage 50 millimeters upward is now at the highest level since 2012. More than 70% is coarser than 50 millimeters. The underwater weight of the sampled parties is relatively low, at more than 330. Only in 2015 was it recorded even lower.
Good crop growth
The crop growth of 5 Innovator plots that potato trading house Van der Linde in the Noordoostpolder samples weekly, showed little growth between weeks 30 and 31. This changed in the first week of August. An average of 7,16 tons per hectare was added. One plot even increased by 18 tons.
Result below average
The calculated yield is now 49,71 tons and is therefore comparable to the result from 2015. The 5-year average is more than 51 tons per hectare. The underwater weight is also slightly below average. 370 compared to 376 normal. However, the crops are coarser, 82% now compared to 79% normal.
