Avebe restarted

Factories in line with multi-year average

21 August 2017 - Clarisse van der Woude

The potato campaign started at Avebe under normal circumstances. Both the start and the harvest are in line with other years.

The first shipments of potatoes from the members were delivered to the factories in Ter Apelkanaal and Gasselternijveen. Both factories are now in operation. The start of the campaign is in line with other years and will continue until mid-April 2018.

Volume and starch percentage close to multi-year average

Growth retardation partly compensated
Avebe expects the harvest to be comparable to that of other years. At the start of the growing season in April, May and June there was a dry and warm period, but the increased growth delay was partly compensated by sufficient precipitation in June and July.

Trial harvests
In both volume and starch percentage, the first trial harvests are close to the multi-year average. However, the final result of the harvest cannot yet be accurately determined. The coming months will be decisive, of course it also concerns the harvesting conditions in September and October.

The campaigns in the German Lüchow and Dallmin will also start shortly.
