It takes some getting used to and there have been some start-up problems of a technical nature, but otherwise the PotatoNL listing is going well. That is what chairman Mark Brantjes says.
The new national quotation for potatoes started on Tuesday, November 14. It has now been noted 4 times; 2 odds per week (Tuesday and Thursday) and there are 10 prizes on the board. Brantjes: "The start-up is good. The committee is new and the recorders still have to get used to each other, but I must say that that is also going well."
According to Brantjes, there is a good atmosphere and the recorders are succeeding in recording within the set protocols. However, there were still a few small things that did not go completely as planned. "Only the telephone box, with which South to North dials every Tuesday and the other way around on Thursday, was accompanied by some teething problems. However, this is separate from the recording and will be resolved quickly," says Brantjes.
Added value of 5 chip quotes
2 prices have to be set twice a week, but that is doable. "It concerns 10 French fries quotations, but the added value is clearly seen. A grower with Fontane or Innovator now knows exactly what his potatoes are worth. He first looks at the variety and then whether he supplies them as category 5 or 1. A nice piece of price information. The other quotations have also been noted before. An additional addition are flake and feed potatoes. That is also going well. Yes, I have confidence in it."
