Lamb Weston, a producer of frozen potatoes, will increase the processing capacity of French fries in the next 2 years. How does the organization do that?
The new processing line can produce 136.000 tons. In order for the line to run properly, potatoes must be grown on 3.000 hectares. Setting up the processing line will cost Lamb Weston $250 million, equivalent to €205 million.
Growing market
Tom Werner, CEO of Lamb Weston, says the investment is necessary to meet growing demand. "The French fries category is a growing and attractive market. The processing industry is struggling to keep up with growth. Such an investment is therefore necessary."
The investment by the American Lamb Weston is separate European investments by Lamb Weston/Meijer.
