In December 2017, 312.200 tons of potatoes were processed. That is slightly less than in the same month in 2016, when the processing figure was 329.000 tons.

Higher production in 2017
Although slightly fewer potatoes were processed in December, on balance more was still produced in 2017 (4,019 million tons). In 2016, this was 3,9 million tons in 2016. This means that Dutch potato processors processed 2017 more tons in 131.000 compared to the total in 2016.

Less end product
It is striking that 2017 tons less end product was ultimately produced in 91.400. This is due to the lower quality of potatoes, especially from the 2017 harvest. This means that more raw materials are needed for the same volume of end product. This may provide some price 'room' in the market at the end of the season.
