Potato area increased by 2017 percent in 4

A larger area of ​​ware potatoes was harvested in 2017 compared to 2016. The gross yield per hectare was also significantly higher. This is apparent from the definitive harvest estimate of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

The actual harvested area amounted to 2017 hectares in 74.775. This means that 1.468 hectares of the estimate in October were not harvested. The harvested area was higher than in 2016, when it amounted to 71.079 hectares. This is an increase of almost 4%.

The total gross yield is 3,950 million tons. This means that the October estimate has been adjusted downwards slightly, which came to 4,012 million tons. This is because not all potatoes have been harvested. The total gross proceeds have increased by 2016% compared to 19.

Higher yield per hectare
The high total gross yield is caused by the higher gross yields and a larger acreage. The gross yields per hectare were higher in 2017 than in 2016. An average of 52,8 tons per hectare was harvested. In 2016 this was 44,4 tons per hectare.

The cultivated area of ​​ware potatoes in 2017 amounted to 76.243 hectares; in 2016 this was 73.321 hectares. This means that the cultivated area has increased by 2.922 hectares (compared to 2016).
