VTA's stock inventory for potatoes shows that an area decrease of 2,6% is expected. The stock inventory is based on the data of 180 VTA members.
Although more potatoes have been delivered in absolute tons, there are currently relatively many potatoes in stock. The absolute stock is 36% higher than last year.
Delivered less
33,1% of the total harvest has been delivered. That is slightly less than in previous seasons. The share of potatoes delivered last year was just under 40%. Compared to the 5-year average, 15,3% less was delivered this season.
The share of potatoes in stock that have already been sold is 53%. This is significantly lower than at the same time last year (67%). This means that there are still many (more than 30%) free potatoes in storage. It must be said that quality and storage problems were found.
Boerenbusiness Poll
Boerenbusiness hield the end of January a short survey about the expected potato area. Approximately 34% of respondents indicated that they expect their area to shrink. However, 43% indicated that they expect their acreage to remain the same.
