Carel van Buchem has been appointed as the new general manager of potato cooperative Nedato from Oud-Beijerland (South Holland) as of 28 May. He succeeds part-time chairman of the board Antoon van Vugt. Van Buchem has to watch over the company's new strategy.
Van Buchem has worked as general and commercial director at companies such as Cargill, Nedalco and Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer. After he has been trained, Van Buchem takes over from Anthony van Vugt† Van Vugt is the general manager of CZAV and will now fulfill this position full-time. CZAV will remain a shareholder in Nedato, the company reports in its own reporting.
Strategy change
Van Buchem heads three other board members. These are commercial director Heero Gramsma, director of cultivation affairs and logistics Wim van de Ree and financial director Annemarie Bruijnzeel. Together with the management, the new general manager oversees the strategy change, which was launched in 2017.
This new strategy consists of 3 action points: broadening the range of table potatoes, actively seeking partnerships and expanding the cultivation of chips potatoes. An investment program is now being implemented in phases at the production location in Oud-Beijerland; this way Nedato can provide more customization.
