The German seed potato trading house Europlant has presented the payment price for the 2017 harvest to the Dutch growers. This amounts to €30,52 per 100 kilos (for all sizes). In addition, an average of €3,15 per 100 kilos is paid in compensation. This brings the total price to €33,67.
The average payout price for fall delivery, in the class A to S, is €3,83 per 100 kilos lower than last year. This means that the result is almost the same as the 2015 harvest. The license fee still has to be deducted from the price. The price is for autumn delivery, collected separately.
Good sales
The trading house noticed good interest in both the European market and the export market. In the Netherlands, the varieties Regina, Venezia and Jelly were mainly sold. These 3 varieties are also doing well in the export market. The table potato Ivetta is also doing well. This is because the potato has broad nematode resistance and is of good consumption quality.
In addition to the traditional export countries, the seed potato specialist focuses on a number of new destinations. Local authorities help with this, because the potato is a good alternative to corn and rice. There is a demand for 'robust' varieties for this. Europlant is trying to answer this question with the Jelly variety.
Europlant Groep from Lüneburg has 12 sales offices, including 1 in the Netherlands. The group markets 250.000 tons of seed potatoes annually and has more than 100 own varieties that are exported to 80 countries.
