The pool board is satisfied; this in the context of the large quantity of available potatoes and the fact that they were dealing with an extremely poor market. In week 45, €7,26 was paid and that price increased to €8,93 in week 13. Ultimately, €27 was paid in week 11,38.

This concerns the Innovator variety. "That is the main part of the pool," says co-pool manager Martin de Visser. €13 was paid in week 8,53 for the Miss Malina variety and €7,71 for Ramos.

Veel green
However, the quality of the potatoes was not always good. This was because there were many green potatoes in the batches, due to the rinsing of the tubers. Green ensures that the tare is higher, and also ensures customization in sales.

The lots with less than 3,5% tare receive a premium of €0,56 per 100 kilos. When a lot exceeds the 5,5% tare, they will receive a minus of €0,38 per 100 kilos on the payment price. The parties that have between 3,5% and 5,5% tare will receive the normal payout price. By far the majority of the pool participants are in the latter category.

Relatively good price
Considering the circumstances, the price is relatively good, says De Visser. "We were able to sell well at the high points in the market (during the growing season), partly also on the futures market." The majority of the potatoes went to the German industry and a smaller part went to a number of Dutch processors. Almost all potatoes have been purchased.
