The yield, which is determined by the trial harvesting figures of Aviko Potato and trading house Van der Linde, levels off in week 32. This is according to the most recent data. The underwater weight (owg) remains extremely high, which shows how far the crops have already aged.
In Numbers of Aviko Potato (over week 32), the graph of the yield dips below the lines of the 5 previous years for the first time. A yield of about 35 tons per hectare is recorded. The yield was approximately 2013 tons higher in 2015 and 5 (in the same week).
Extremely high underwater weight
In terms of coarseness, 2018 continues to follow the bottom of the graph, with 60% of the barrels in the size 50 millimeters upwards. Where the graph remains exceptional is the owg. This increased to an average of 1 grams in 410 week. That is 30 points higher than the previous highest result from 2014.
Van der Linde trading house from Emmeloord samples in the Noordoostpolder 5 plots every week with the Innovator variety. The figures from their test harvests show a comparable development to those of Aviko. On average, the fields amount to 44,65 tons per hectare in week 33. Please note: this amounts to gross tons. These are relatively coarse batches, with 78% above 50 millimeters upwards.
Big differences
The differences between the potato plots are considerable, with a difference of 12 tons between the best and worst plots. It seems to make little difference how much an area is irrigated: a minimum of 5 times and a maximum of 7 times. Both the worst and the best plots were irrigated 5 times.
The owg is also extremely high here. In week 33, all plots achieve values that were not achieved even in the last growth week (week 37/mid-September). The average is 422 grams. This creates a distorted picture when comparing with previous years (as we mentioned earlier). wrote).
through washing
Neither party makes any statements about the quality (throughout). Judging from social media reports and insiders, thrush is found almost everywhere in the country. It is known that Agria and Bintje are extremely sensitive, but regrowth is also found in Innovator and Fontane.
Belgian yield figures
PCA samples plots of early potatoes and French fries potatoes weekly for the main harvest. The first plots of Amora have been harvested. On average, all fields reach 30 tons per hectare, which is 11 tons below average. The areas that can be irrigated show a better yield (+5 tons). The Sinora variety averages 25 tons per hectare, compared to a 5-year average of 33 tons.
PCA samples 27 fields with Fontane and 18 with Bintje. After 100 growing days, the plots with Fontane have 29 tons per hectare. Bintje remains stuck 2 tons lower. Fontane's 10-year average is 36 tons. At Bintje this is 34 tons. PCA does discover large regional differences and a very high owg.
Throughwash is found sporadically in Fontane. Some crops are already 50% ripe, with 10% being normal. At Bintje, overgrowth is found in all plots. Sometimes up to 50% of the tubers have shoots. The ripening is slightly slower at 30%.
